In service of all Ateneo sectors, News staffers are expected to think critically and creatively to produce newsworthy content without compromising quality, accuracy, and journalistic ethics. Above all, News staffers must be proactive and quick on their feet when pursuing possible stories.

Grounded in the truth, the mission of The GUIDON Sports is to bring all of these mentioned elements onto the screens and broadsheets, providing its audience with engaging stories that are both entertaining and relevant to the Ateneo and Philippine contexts. Beyond the final score, The GUIDON Sports is committed to spotlighting the unwavering spirit of the Blue Eagles, while consistently bringing each game closer to the Ateneo community and deepening engagement in every triumph and loss.

As The GUIDON's investigative arm, Inquiry is dedicated to unmasking covert realities within the Ateneo and Katipunan. The staff seeks to bring prevalent, deep-rooted, and sociopolitical phenomena closer to the Atenean sensibility through data-driven stories supported by humanized narratives. With the goal of delving deeper into the truths, Inquiry staffers must be dauntless in probing and writing critical stories that concern the Ateneo community. To uphold accuracy and capture the nuances of complex issues, they must aspire to be effective writers grounded in meticulous research, in-depth analysis, and empathetic storytelling.

Beyond Loyola reports on the often-overlooked realities of Filipinos, urging the Ateneo community to move beyond academic boundaries in the pursuit of truth. In doing so, the staff seeks to spark outward-looking discourse on Philippine culture, society, politics, and economics. Through meaningful engagement with these issues, Beyond Loyola upholds critical analysis, social awareness, and timely reportage, aiding Filipinos, including Ateneans, to understand their role within both local and global contexts.

In their pursuit of truth, its staffers aim to humanize society’s cultural phenomena and trending stories through creative and impactful storytelling. The staff boldly challenges oppressive structures by bringing underrepresented and sidelined identities to the forefront of public discourse.

As The GUIDON’s pop and campus culture arm, Vantage Magazine is a homepage made for and by the Atenean. The staff highlights the vibrancy of student life and local culture within and beyond Katipunan by covering the latest trends in food, film, music, and the arts. Tapping into the endless potential of digital storytelling through engaging multimedia content, we take journalism into the 21st century—away from pretense and towards accessibility. The online magazine is committed to becoming the go-to source for compelling stories, inviting discussions, and imaginative pieces on entertainment, Atenean lifestyle, and human narratives. With a balance of creative expression and journalistic integrity, Vantage Magazine is a platform that recognizes and celebrates the evolving Atenean identity.

Through the use of the audio-visual medium, Broadcast News aims to amplify voices and capture human-centric stories ranging from interesting phenomena to relevant social issues. In its pursuit of innovative forms of storytelling, the staff produces voiceover reports, explainers, interview series, live coverages, short-form content, and documentaries. As the face and voice of The GUIDON’s on-screen appearances, the staff’s work is highly collaborative with the other staffs in the publication. Its reporters are trained to become holistic storytellers through writing scripts, editing media outputs, interviewing key experts, and reporting on breaking stories within and beyond the Ateneo.

Answering the call of a rapidly modernizing world, The GUIDON’s Science and Technology (SciTech) staff brings science communication to the forefront of local and campus-based journalism. As the publication’s scientific arm, SciTech focuses on relevant scientific, digital, medical, academic, and environmental trends, as well as their implications on the community within and outside of the Ateneo’s contexts. The section is dedicated to establishing itself as one of the leading sources of science information and news as they unfold in the Atenean’s lived realities. Staffers brave the technical nature of science writing, translating complex and pressing issues into clear and compelling stories that resonate and empower readers.

The Social Media (SM) staff serves as The GUIDON’s digital frontline that manages and optimizes the publication’s presence across all its platforms: The GUIDON, GUIDON Sports, and Vantage Magazine. SM oversees the release and scheduling of posts, helps maintain the quality and accuracy of digital content, and ensures consistency across all The GUIDON platforms. Beyond day-to-day management, SM monitors platform trends and performance data to provide actionable insights that guide the publication’s digital growth. By analyzing what resonates with audiences, SM helps writers, designers, and editors extend their reach and impact online.

As the member affairs arm of The GUIDON, the Human Resources (HR) staff promotes member relations, well-being, and development by leading collaborative internal initiatives. HR ensures that every member of the publication is supported in their growth through training and feedback systems and member integration programs. With the aim of cultivating an inclusive and conducive working environment, the staff spearheads projects that strengthen camaraderie and uphold the publication’s people-centric culture.

As the project management and operations arm of The GUIDON, the Publication Relations staff brings forward the publication's advocacies to different sectors and communities within and outside the University. The staff works toward expanding The GUIDON's impact through the ideation and execution of projects, the cultivation of sustainable external and internal relations, and the efficient circulation and archival of the publication's issues.

As the analytical and consultative arm of The GUIDON, Research and Development (R&D) aims to leverage data for the improvement of internal processes within the organization. R&D develops data-driven solutions that support The GUIDON by collecting and analyzing both quantitative and qualitative data on issues within and beyond the publication. R&D staffers are expected to be inquisitive and understanding of data and its implications, and most importantly, compassionate towards the people behind the numbers that they calculate.

The GUIDON’s Graphic Design Staff brings campus journalism to life through compelling visuals and empowering pieces that connect deeply with the hearts and minds of the audience. Playing a pivotal role in multimedia journalism, illustrators and layout artists craft dynamic broadsheets, illustrations, and graphics to complement and reinforce the publication’s vision of truth-centered storytelling. They are committed to thoughtful and impactful visual communication that informs, empowers, and resonates beyond words across print or digital platforms.

The Photos staff is The GUIDON’s premier photojournalistic arm, empowered by visual storytellers who aspire to shed light on today’s social realities. Their photographs capture the human experience, bringing the truth to life. Alongside the Design Cluster, the staff plays an integral role in visually engaging the audience through purposeful and skillful photography that documents Ateneo culture and timely issues beyond the campus walls. Ultimately, the Photos staff aims to be at the forefront of student journalism by amplifying the stories of communities within and beyond Ateneo. They fulfill this responsibility by being human-centric photojournalists who use creative and impactful visual storytelling to chronicle events relevant to the community.

Advancing The GUIDON’s multimedia arm, the Video Production staff is dedicated to the art of cinematic storytelling through creating storyboards and producing videos. Grounded in the realities faced within and beyond the Ateneo community, the staff aims to deliver impactful narratives and well-curated content through unfiltered documentation of the truth in video form. Through the collaboration of Content Strategists and Technical Producers, the Video Production staff carefully crafts narratives from a wide range of perspectives alongside their fellow writers, photographers, and designers. Moreover, they elevate visual storytelling by integrating cinematography and videography techniques to bring depth to each story they tell.

The Digital Development Staff brings together developers and designers to reimagine and innovate the digital presence of campus journalism. Through innovative and dynamic interactives, the staff transforms stories into impactful and immersive experiences. The staff works closely with writers, photographers, and designers to craft modern, creative, and collaborative digital solutions that elevate real-life narratives and push the boundaries of multimedia storytelling.
